Profile of Geography Education Study Program

The Geography Education Study Program which is under the Geography Department of FMIPA UNM is based on the Establishment Decree by the Director General of Higher Education No. 248/Dikti/Kep/1996, dated 11 July 1996. For 27 years, this study program has carried out the educational process and produced alumni who are spread and active at national and international levels, such as working as teachers at various schools, lecturers at state universities and private sector, government agencies, state agencies/institutions, national and international companies and working as entrepreneurs, and NGOs.

Currently the Geography Education Study Program has the title of Superior accreditation (UNGGUL) based on LAMDIK Decree No.903/SK/LAMDIK/Ak/S/IX/2023. The learning process is carried out in a blended learning manner using the SYAM OK LMS and is supported by very adequate and high quality facilities and infrastructure.

Of the 15 Permanent Study Program Lecturers (DTPS), 60% of the DTPS have doctoral qualifications, 60% have functional positions as professors and associate professors, and 82% of the lecturers have competence in their fields through recognition of lecturer certification.
Laboratory facilities and infrastructure really support the learning and research process.
Research outputs that have been produced are in the form of books (5 pieces), reputable international journal articles (28 articles), International Proceedings (36 articles), articles in SINTA journals (73 articles) and National journals (articles), as well as Copyright IPR ( 60 pieces).
The results of the service have produced 23 titles
DTPS Geography Education has an overseas research collaboration with one of the universities ranked in the 100 Best Universities in the World, namely the University of Hawaii, Manoa, USA. Apart from that, collaboration with various domestic universities and the business world.
The average waiting time for graduates to get a job, continue their studies and/or become an entrepreneur is less than 6 months.

In addition to being educators, geography teachers must also be researchers. This involves addressing classroom learning issues, adhering to curriculum demands, utilizing authentic assessment strategies, and managing classrooms effectively. Teachers are encouraged to create changes through research.
